What Diving Leagues Does Team Texas Participate In?

We train and compete in both AAU Diving (Amateur Athletic Union, AAUsports.org) and USA Diving (USADiving.org), the national governing body recognized by World Aquatics. USA Diving oversees Olympic Trials and other international qualifying events.

What’s the Difference Between Springboard and Platform Diving?

Both styles allow for a variety of dives.

Springboard Diving is performed on 1-meter and 3-meter flexible boards.
Platform Diving takes place on fixed platforms at heights of 5, 7.5, and 10 meters.
Many divers train in both to expand their skillset and competition options.

What Events Are in Olympic & International Diving?

Olympic diving includes:

3-meter Springboard
10-meter Platform
Additionally, High Diving features extreme heights:
21 meters for women
27 meters for men
High Diving is showcased in international competitions like Red Bull Cliff Diving, viewable on Red Bull TV and apps.

Is This the Same as Scuba Diving?

No—Springboard and Platform Diving is a competitive aquatic sport involving acrobatics and precision.

How Is Competitive Diving Structured?

Diving is organized by age groups, not skill levels.

Group D: 11 & under
Group C: Ages 12–13
Group B: Ages 14–15
Group A: Ages 16–18

Each group has specific dive requirements. As divers get older, they must complete more dives with greater difficulty.

How Are Diving Scores Calculated?

Scoring involves 5–7 judges:

The highest and lowest scores are dropped.
The remaining scores are added.
That total is multiplied by the Degree of Difficulty (DD).

DD is based on dive elements like:

Dive direction (forward, backward, reverse, inward, twisting)
Number of somersaults or twists
Height of the board or platform
